We develop different degrees of pain and aches depending on your activities. Quite often they become chronic.

 

Causes of Pain

         * Stress (mental, emotional, or physical)

         * Repetitive (typing, using computer, painting, gardening, writing, lifting, walking,                        standing, etc.)

         * Personal (sleeping position, lateral tilt, sitting on wallet, clenching teeth, smoking,                      sedentary lifestyle, etc.)

         * Environment (car seat, chair, footwear, weather, nose, etc.)

         * Poor posture (forward head posture, low self-esteem, improper biomechanics, etc.)

         * Sports injuries (golfer’s elbow, tennis elbow, runner’s knew, over-enthusiaxtic exercise)

 

Why we develop aches and pain?

1. Muscle do suffer from wear and tear in our lives. Untreated, the area would normally
be felt as tight, fibrotic, binding, strained, sensitive, ischemic, adhesive, dehydrated
and so on. In severe case, these unhealthy tissues would compress nerves and cause
a variety of pain (e.g. shooting, radiating). Also blood supply is harder to get to these unhealthy areas (poor circulation), you would start having numbness and hot or cold sensation.

2. When we live with aches and pains, we feel constricted, so we alter the way we do things to lessen the pain. In other words, we change our posture, use muscles that
are not intended to be used, adding more stress and pain. This would result in fatigue, irritability, change of personality, loss of sleep/vitality/appetite, and so on. This is a situation called “compressed, repressed, oppressed, depressed”, where the pain is controlling our lives. We may become prone to sickness or injuries and our health
may become unbalanced.

tear in a car. However, most of us take better care of our cars than our own bodies by regularly changing oil and tune– ups because we know that good maintenance helps cars
last longer and avoid expensive repairs. If we have awareness to maintain our cars, why
can’t we do the same with our own bodies?

The benefits of massage therapy does not stop at bringing unhealthy tissues back to normal;
it is a good way to tune up your body mechanism to be at the optimal condition without the use of drugs. This way, you are less likely to get illness or injury.
